Teijin Carbon Europe GmbH celebrates 40 years site Heinsberg

23. August 2024 | Blog

Teijin Carbon Europe celebrates the 40th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone for production line 1 in Heinsberg-Oberbruch. This pioneering project paved the way for what is still the only industrial carbon fiber production facility in Germany.

Toho Rayon from Japan (today's Teijin Limited) signs a licence agreement with ENKA AG in 1983 for the production of carbon fibers. One year later, on 8 June 1984, construction of production line 1 begins and after a construction period of only two years, it goes into operation in 1986.

Today, Teijin Carbon Europe is proud to have four carbon fiber production lines with an annual capacity of 5,100 tonnes and two development lines. In addition, there are further production facilities at the site to process the carbon fibers into reinforcement textiles and thermoplastic semi-finished products. The company ‘lives’ carbon with every fiber: sophisticated components and applications are developed from this high-performance material and new standards are set for the lightweight construction of the future.

As part of a globally active group, Teijin Carbon Europe offers all the advantages of a medium-sized company and assumes social responsibility as an employer in the region. Diversity and tolerance stand for a working environment in which individual, personal skills and talents can be optimally developed. In a diverse team, every single member is important, because for Teijin Carbon Europe it is clear that its employees are the company's greatest strength.

Teijin Carbon Europe is celebrating its company summer party on Saturday, 24 August 2024. Employees and their families will learn a lot about the history of the company and its products at several stations. Younger guests are invited to enjoy face painting, goal wall shooting and a train ride around the site.
