Braiding
Braiding is a manufacturing method for narrow fabrics, including cords and ropes. New braiding methods with Tenax™ carbon fiber enable structures with complex geometries to be made for lightweight solutions, such as in the automotive industry, while 3D-braiding methods ensure high strength and stiffness with lower weight.
The benefits of Tenax™ carbon fiber braiding
Teijin uses Tenax™ carbon fiber to produce braids of different densities, including 3K fibers for light sleeves, a 6K density for medium weight, and 12K fibers for heavy braids. Braiding results in continuous fibers, combining high flexibility with the ability to handle strong loads. The intertwined threads can move in all three spatial directions, enabling braiding to be used for the production of reinforcement structures.
