Develop lightweight tanks for cryogenic hydrogen

Composites based on carbon fibers play an essential role in many areas of the energy transition. We, as Teijin Carbon Europe, are involved in the inspirational Group LeiWaCo , wich is working collectively at the new developments.

The project LeiWaCo aims to develop lightweight tanks for cryogenic hydrogen, which have to be cost-effective and at the same time high-strength. How such tanks can be advanced to series production readiness in the future using fiber composites and how temperature-related microcracks in the shell can be avoided were just two of the exciting questions were discussed at our booth at the JEC show in April. We were very pleased about the meeting and lively exchange!
